IT : Setup Printer with Authentication / User Password for Macbook Pro

It’s actually an easy task but for a non Apple user like me this thing kind of tricky! So, I’m just gonna share this simple task for those who had the same situation as me.

There’s an apple user in my workplace that can’t print to Konica Minolta Bizhub 280 printer that have user password. I’ve try to Google the answer and even explore the Apple Forum, doing the reading, test and run. FAIL! I’m starting to stress out for this small matters as I’m the only IT Support in this company that serve 4-5 department in one building. I even consult my IT Engineer, printer vendor and even call Apple IT Technician. Whoa! Oh, I even call the former IT Support of our company.

Ok. Stop the babling. Here the solution. After you install the printer with the correct driver (download it from the printer web site – they usually provide the latest software), add the printer by using the USB or IP port or just add up using Bonjour. The printer are successfully install and the thing that bother me is there are no Printer Preferences. Errrkk…! Where is it? Poor me who still lack  of knowledge just found out that the printer preferences are in any document that you wanted to print.

I’m using Microsoft Word to do the Printer Setup. You can view the step in the picture below.

Choose File and Click Print…

Click Copies & Pages

Select – Output Method

Click – Detail Settings…

You can set the User Authentication / Account Track here and Save the Setting.

** After you save the setup, you also can set this setting as your default setting. (Please Explore the Presets: tabs)
** Before you print, choose / tick either User Authentication or Account Track .
